“Flipping Hamburgers” in any fast food restaurant chain, is more than just a Culinary Skill.
If you’re good at keeping up with the assembly line pace, you have some additional skills to add to your resume.
Here’s your list:
- Works well in a team environment
- Works well under tight deadlines
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Pays attention to details
- Has good time management skills.
Sounds much better than “I worked in a fast food restaurant”, doesn’t it?
If you worked the cash registers only, you have probably become an expert in human nature. Can you tell who’s having a good day or a bad day but what they order?
Do you notice that by being courteous to people that it changes their response to you?
If you’ve mastered this then you can add: - Ability to handle public situations well
Most people do not explore the options any work environment gives them. They even forget something as mundane as the ability to get to work on time.
Timeliness and punctuality can put you on a good footing with any new employer.
Remember the key strategy for job hunting is transferrable skills. These are the threads that allow you to move from one position to another seamlessly.
Keep in mind that there are core elements in all work. Look for those elements and focus your resume around those common threads.
